Sandy Sugawara and Catiana Garcia Kilroy collaborate on a book project titled Show Me the Way Home. It is an immersive, visual journey through the incarceration camps that held 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War 2. Sugawara and Kilroy tell the story of each camp through original and archival photographs, personal stories, and government documents. It’s a frightening tale of a society that failed to protect its vulnerable.

Sandy Sugawara is a Maryland-based photographer and journalist. After the death of her parents, Sandy turned her attention West, focusing on themes of family and memories through landscape.

Catiana Garcia-Kilroy is a DC-based photographer and development economist. In her photography she seeks to recreate the experience of place, whether it is through single images of overlooked details or places, or in more elaborated narratives, linking landscape to the memory of personal stories and historical events.

Rollence Patugan is an American Photographer based out of Los Angeles, CA. Identity, diversity, and visibility are undercurrents of Rollence’s work. Having originally come from Baldwin Park, CA, a small but diverse town in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles.

Rollence wants his work to serve the underrepresented. Growing up in the 1980s as an Asian-American of Chinese and Filipino descent, he did not see a reflection of himself or his Latino friends in government, sports, entertainment, and the arts. Rollence felt he didn’t exist as an American. In his work, Rollence strives to reflect the ethnic diversity that has always been a part of his experiences and uses his voice through art to allow people to be seen.

Debe Arlook is an award-winning American artist working in photography. Arlook’s conceptual and documentary work is a response to her surroundings and the larger environment. Her projects depict the inner and outer worlds of human relationships, informed by her studies in filmmaking, psychology, and spiritual practices.

Arlook’s latest project, one, one thousand, is a collaboration between Debe, her sister, Lori Sandler, and her son, David. This unconventional documentary exposes the impact of a rare and incurable form of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, on Lori and David. At 28 years old, David endures seizures, has scoliosis and severe autism and requires 24-hour care. After years of pursuing conventional approaches to stop seizures, Lori turned to unconventional healers, working in energetic and mystical realms. Her love for David and finding meaning through their circumstances fuels her dedication to his care and her own personal and spiritual growth.
